Due to the favourable traffic situation on various supra-regional trade routes, Blomberg became one of the most important Lippe castles. It was considered the strongest fortification of the Lippe, but was nevertheless considerably destroyed in the Soest feud in 1447. But soon the reconstruction work began. Finally, from 1560 onwards, the entire castle was converted into a castle in the Weser Renaissance style.
