Bad Salzuflen Haus Backs

The magnificent Weser Renaissance building was erected in 1581 on Upper Mühlenstraße and is considered one of the architectural highlights of the historic old town. Today, the Backs house accommodates a coffee roasting shop.

Even today, magnificent examples of Weser Renaissance half-timbered construction can be admired in Bad Salzuflen.

A special example can be found at Hafermarkt: the Backs house, which still bears the name of a former owner.

While construction activities almost completely came to a standstill due to the effects of the Thirty Years' War, the Backs house is the last in the whole East Westphalia-Lippe region that was so richly decorated. Furthermore, it is likely one of the most photographed houses in the old town.
