On the way to becoming a quality hiking region in Germany
Hikers come to our region not only from all over Germany, but also from neighbouring countries to actively relax and enjoy the exceptionally beautiful natural surroundings.
In order to better exploit the region's hiking potential, Lippe Tourismus & Marketing GmbH has taken the initiative and, together with hiking clubs, wants to get the district of Lippe on track to become a ‘Quality Region for Hiking in Germany’ – because a certified Quality Region for Hiking in Germany guarantees a perfect hiking experience.
The supra-regional hiking competence centre ‘WALK’ on the grounds of the Hermannsdenkmal in Detmold is already the central location for hikers and anyone interested in hiking. It was built as part of a funding project by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Of central importance is the development of a continuous destination signage system for the hiking trails. In addition, new information points (signs) will be installed to make it easier to start a hiking tour, the routes will be given a more thematic focus, and the rest areas, car parks and shelters will be modernised. The destination signposting system is intended not only to show hikers the direction and provide information about distances, but also to indicate tourist attractions in the surrounding area and places to eat.

...ensures the sustainable maintenance of hiking tourism facilities.
…works together with all partners in the field of hiking (large protected areas, hiking clubs, tourism managers, nature conservation, etc.) in a structured manner....
acts as an organisational unit.
On the way to becoming a Quality Hiking Region in Germany, a total of 44 criteria must be met, which are checked by the German Hiking Association.
