Every region in Europe has its own unique characteristics and faces individual challenges for the future. Strengthening strengths, mitigating weaknesses – and thus balancing out imbalances between regions in the long term: this is the goal of European cohesion policy. Part of this is the European Regional Development Fund – ERDF for short. In North Rhine-Westphalia, it finances measures that help to make businesses competitive and create jobs in small and medium-sized enterprises. The fund also supports measures that help to make cities and neighbourhoods more liveable. The Regional Economic Development Programme (RWP) of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia comprises funding offers for both the commercial economy and projects in the field of business-related infrastructure. It is financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the joint federal/state programme ‘Improvement of Regional Economic Structure’ (GRW) and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
