Quality region – Hiking in Germany

With this official certification, Hermann's homeland is now one of only eight regions to be awarded the title of ‘Quality Region for Hiking in Germany’.

Our region is proud to be part of the network of quality regions Wanderbares Deutschland. This seal stands for outstanding hiking experiences, sustainable tourism and a well-maintained infrastructure that enables hikers to enjoy unforgettable experiences in nature. This year, our region is due for recertification. Inspectors from the German Hiking Association will come to Lippe to assess whether we continue to meet the high standards required for the seal. Among other things, they will check the signage, the maintenance of the hiking trails and the tourist infrastructure. For us, this recertification is an important opportunity to confirm our quality and at the same time identify potential for improvement. Our goal is to remain a top hiking region in the future, where nature, culture and hospitality are harmoniously combined. Lippe offers a variety of well-marked hiking trails through picturesque landscapes, historical sites and idyllic natural paradises. Whether for families, nature lovers or experienced hikers – everyone can find their own personal nature experience here.

Attention: road closures!!

Here we have summarised the current path closures in Hermann's country. Please note that special caution should always be exercised when entering the forest. There is an increased risk in the forest, especially after thunderstorms, storms or heavy snowfall.

Problems on the hiking trail?

More than 3,000 kilometres of hiking trails in Lippe need to be maintained regularly – a task that is carried out by local hiking clubs. With the new ‘MeldeMax’ tool in the Lippe district's GeoPortal, hikers can now submit digital reports of defects. These are coordinated centrally, forwarded to the relevant authorities and reported back to the person who submitted the report once they have been rectified.
