Spa/healing spring

The heart of the Salzufler Parkwelten is the newly designed spa gardens. It was laid out around 100 years ago following the example of English gardens and has been extensively redesigned in recent years. This mammoth project not only involved horticultural measures such as the renaturalization of the salts or the laying of new floor coverings, but also the creation of new attractions. The old trees and colorful flowerbeds have of course been preserved in the spa park. After all, they are what have defined the park since it opened more than 100 years ago!

One of these new highlights is the brine beach, in the middle of which a water feature bubbles merrily away. Here you can take a seat in comfortable beach chairs, close your eyes and enjoy a touch of coastal feeling.

The beautiful spa park in Bad Salzuflen combines three elements at once. Visitors can find peace and relaxation in areas in the style of a classic spa park. Highlights of the adventure area are the Kneipp course and the saltwater beach. Infotainment can be found in the newly designed concert shell and in the Wandelhalle.

The Kneipp island
A particular highlight in the park is the attractive Kneipp island with water treading and arm bathing pools as well as an adventure trail. It is an integral part of the Sole and Kneipp experience area and is based on the teachings of Sebastian Kneipp, the famous naturopath and founder of Kneipp therapy. Bad Salzuflen has been certified as a Kneipp health resort since 2013. On the adventure trail, visitors to the park walk barefoot over a wide variety of surfaces and materials. While agility and coordination skills are required to balance over slacklines and tree trunks, the foot reflex zones are then activated. Glass, grass, pine cones and stones are just some of the materials that your feet can feel.

The brine beach
Another eye-catcher in the spa park is the new brine beach. Comfortable beach chairs, specially designed for the state spa by a company from Usedom, invite you to linger and relax. There is even a barrier-free beach chair for guests. The Salzufel brine beach nestles around a large drinking vessel in the shape of a fountain - a symbolism with a central message: the topic of "drinking cures" is to be given greater significance in the future. "The brine is used as a remedy, mostly externally in the form of baths and compresses or in the form of inhalations for respiratory diseases. In future, we will draw more attention to the fact that numerous complaints can be alleviated with a brine drinking cure," says spa director Stefan Krieger.

The renaturalized Salze
The renaturalized Salze is a special attraction for nature lovers. Its previously straight course has been altered in the northern part of the spa gardens. Several river loops allow the Salze to meander through the park in a new, natural riverbed. Further along the course of the Salze, huge natural stone blocks have been placed in the river at the level of the Leopoldsprudel. They not only reduce the flow speed, but also allow climbers of all ages to cross the Salze and provide space for a short rest.

Salt & Kneipp experience room

In the new spa park, you will also come across two interactive pavilions. In the mini-exhibitions, you can find out about the topics of "brine" and "Kneipp" all year round and learn, for example, about the importance of the bubbling salt water for our town. These pavilions are part of the Sole & Kneipp experience area, the heart of which is the Wandelhalle next to the Kurpark.

The new splendor of the Wandelhalle

The new Wandelhalle with its brine bar and historic fountain house and its new interactive themed pavilions increases the recreational value and quality of stay. It fascinates, entertains and amuses visitors of all generations: Thematically, emotionally, musically and even culinarily with video projections, simulations and performances, visually through an open architecture that focuses on light-flooded spaciousness. The shapes of the pavilions - each a world of experience in its own right - are modern and multifunctional, and the materials are of a high quality.

The pavilions create an emotional learning and experience atmosphere through attractive color and light worlds in combination with sounds and scents and function as a monument-supporting design concept in the Wandelhalle.

The city has renovated the energy efficiency of the Wandelhalle. Building on this, the state baths developed an innovative management concept and planned and designed the entire experience space concept in-house, making it eligible for funding. The well-known scenographer Gunter Thurner is responsible for the design of the pavilions.
