Directions
We start at the ADFC station in Bad Meinberg, follow "Brunnenstraße" to the right with the NRW cycle route signs, left into "Krummestraße", straight ahead into "Marktstraße", cross "Hamelner Straße" at the bus station and follow the NRW cycle route signs in the direction of "Horn" until we reach "Steinheimer Straße", There we turn left onto the cycle path along the country road "Steinheimer Straße", cross the road and follow the road coming from the right - also a new citizens' cycle path over a slight hill to the intersection "Bellenberger Straße", which we cross and cycle along the "Große Laue" through the farming community of Niederheesten to "Bergheimer Straße". We turn left onto the busy country road and follow it past Heesten to the edge of the forest, where we rejoin the NRW cycle network "R 1 / Leopoldstal" on the right. The asphalted forest path leads slightly uphill to the Wintrup estate, where we turn left following the signs "Sandebeck / BahnRadroute Weser - Lippe" to the village of Sandebeck, where we turn left onto "Teutoburger-Wald-Straße" and cycle into the village center. At the "Germanenhof" hotel, we turn right and follow the NRW cycle path signposting "R 51". This leads us along quiet farm tracks through varied and undulating terrain via Himmighausen, Merlsheim to Schönenberg. -- 19.7 km --
The "R 51" now takes us via the L 952 to Bad Hermannsborn, spa park with magnificent pond complex, the spa clinic has existed since 1925 and has its own healing springs. From the spa park entrance we cycle steeply uphill on the NRW cycle path "R 51 Alhausen" into the forest, then quickly downhill to Alhausen, pass through the village with the help of the familiar signs and now reach the outskirts of Bad Driburg on asphalt farm tracks. We reach the spa town at the large BFA clinic and now follow the "Brunnenstraße" slightly uphill. The signs for "Gräflicher Park" guide us to the right into the spa park. -- 28.0 km --.
To get to the city center, we follow "Brunnenstraße", from the level crossing of "Lange Straße" straight ahead into the pedestrian zone.
The spa town's train station is located in the immediate vicinity of the level crossing. Return journey by train to the station "Horn-Bad Meinberg" is possible every hour!
Return journey: In the "Lange Straße / pedestrian zone" we push the bike past the church to the junction with "Pyrmonter Straße", we now cycle to the right into this street and follow the road (L 954 towards Horn) out of town. The busy country road leads slightly uphill to a forest ridge, then we cycle downhill in a hairpin bend and cross under the railroad line, turning left at the junction to reach Reelsen on "Detmolder Straße" -- 31.5 km. At the end of the through road (near the church) we turn left into "Brembürener Weg", keep left at the fork in the road and cross the railroad line. We now follow the farm track parallel to the tracks and later turn right. We cross the railroad tracks again on the middle slope, turn left at the next junction and then right at the fork in the road until we reach the L 954 -- attention: busy country road --. Keep left here and enter the village of Langeland. At the end of the village, the accompanying cycle path begins, which takes us to Erpentrup -- 37.0 km --.
Shortly before the end of the village, we turn left onto the "K 3" to Grevenhagen, in the village we turn left, pass the Catholic church, then turn left into "Mörthstraße" and at the upper edge of the village turn right into "Zur Wallbrede". This leads as an asphalted forest path - keeping left at the first fork in the road - along the Geltenberg to the hiking parking lot near Sandebeck -- 43.0 km --.
Alternative route via the new citizens' cycle path along the country road to Leopoldstal. Crossing the road once at the timber mill, we reach the entrance to Leopoldstal - the "Bangert" junction - on the wide cycle path without any great incline or effort.
Nature route: Here we cross the "L 954" and cycle along the "Teutoburger-Wald-Straße" over the level crossing. At the second junction, turn left onto "Echternberg", this asphalted farm road leads along the edge of the forest with great views, later directly past the Cronospan factory premises, then straight ahead onto the nature trail along the edge of the forest to a stream. Behind the stream, we come to the NRW cycle path signposting "Leopoldstal / Horn / R1", which we follow to the left slightly uphill past the Blumengarten inn to the main road.
Here we keep right and cycle through the street village. At the railroad station, we come across the NRW cycle signs for the "BahnRadroute Weser-Lippe / Horn" and follow this on the accompanying cycle path to the next bridge over the stream, where we turn right. The "BahnRadroute" leads us slightly up and down in the direction of Horn, at "Steinheimer Straße" we cross the railroad line, then cycle straight on and at the end turn right into "Bahnhofstraße". This leads us through the commercial and industrial zone past the Horn-Bad Meinberg railroad station and over the Kreuzenstein back to Bad Meinberg. At the traffic circle, continue straight ahead along "Allee", then follow the signs for "Fahrradvermietung" into "Krumme Straße" and "Brunnenstraße" back to the starting point.
