Alte Burg

Historic site
There used to be a historically interesting building on this site, which was probably the official residence of the old Lage bailiwick. The house was considerably altered between the 18th and 20th centuries through conversions and extensions. The building was demolished at the beginning of the 21st century.

Next to the building on the site was a farm building made of brick and quarry stone masonry with a factory chimney from the period between 1870 and 1880, which was used as a tannery in the later 19th century. The site was also home to the former manorial water mill, which was demolished in the 1960s. A. W. Peter, the well-known Lage historian, assumes that the "castle" of Lage, which was built in the 14th century and destroyed in the Everstein feud (1404 - 1409), stood on this site.
