In July 2007, after more than eight months of construction, the Bad Salzufl Experience Gradierwerk was opened. The replacement building for the oldest gradierwerk in the city, which shaped the cityscape of Bad Salzuflen since 1767 and had to be demolished in 2004, has become the most modern of its kind in Europe. The completely newly built gradierwerk not only provides insight into the construction of gradierwerks but also houses a number of special features. It is irrigated from both outside and inside with brine extracted from depths of up to 1,000 meters.

Viewing Platform

In the rustic entrance area of the walk-in gradierwerk, a massive wooden staircase leads to the viewing platform. Here, magnificent views over the entire gradierwerk ensemble and the spa architecture of Bad Salzuflen, as well as the spa park, unfold.

Brine Fog Chamber

Inside, a bridge leads to the area of the gradierwerk that is intensely permeated by saline air and invites deep breathing. A corridor with small resting niches leads to the brine fog chamber. With gentle music and a color-changing starry sky, it is wonderful to relax here. And on top of that, with every breath, the invigorating microparticles of the healthy air act like a rejuvenating treatment for the immune system. Tiny water droplets, called aerosols, stimulate blood circulation in the lungs and the transport of oxygen into the blood in a completely natural way – a boost of energy for every body cell and a benefit for body, mind, and soul.
