In earlier times, there was only one town hall in Lage. With the municipal reorganization in 1970, 14 independent districts were merged to form the town of Lage. This entailed a wealth of new tasks for the town administration. Unlike in other towns, no new town hall was built in this context; instead, the town administration acquired other buildings around the market square, in which parts of the town administration were housed. Today's Town Hall II used to be a hotel. Today, the building houses the school administration office and the youth welfare office, among others.
