Steinberg bei Dörentrup
The Steinberg was used by the military as a missile and radar station from 1963 to 1992. In 1998, NABU Lippe began to restore the 10-hectare area to its natural state. One building was converted into a bat roost. The area is now home to many rare animal and plant species, such as the tree pipit, the smooth snake and the three-fingered saxifrage. From a viewpoint 396 meters above sea level, you have a panoramic view of the Teutoburg Forest and the Hermann Monument as well as the Weser Mountains and the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument.
