The 26.6 km long cycle tour starts in Schlangen and takes you past Fürstenallee via the district of Kohlstädt up into the Eggegebirge mountains. The route leads along the mountain slope through the natural diversity of Schlangen to the Externsteine. Downhill via Veldrom, the route heads back towards Schlangen at high speed.

You can discover these highlights along the route:
Haverkampsee:

Located on the eastern edge of the Sennerand, the approximately 6.5-hectare Haverkampsee is frequented by numerous migratory birds in the spring and fall months, which find resting and resting opportunities there. Several hiking trails start from the northern shore area and lead through an adjacent floodplain forest. The entire area is a designated nature reserve, as is the neighboring Strotheniederung.

Former Oesterholz hunting lodge:

Only a short distance away, we come across the so-called Oesterholz hunting lodge, which Count Simon VI of Lippe had built from 1598 onwards in place of a medieval Meierhof. All that remains of the original Renaissance building complex is the former count's residence, which, supplemented by modern buildings, now serves as a district retirement home. An expression of the Baroque need for representation is the Fürstenallee to the east, which was laid out around 1720.

Statue of St. Christopher:

The tower of the Protestant Reformed Church houses the oldest depiction of St. Christopher in Westphalia. The mural from around 1250, which had been painted over several times, only came to light during renovation work in 1970. The statue on the Quellenstraße refers to the saint as the patron saint of travelers.

Externsteine:

Surrounded by the oldest nature reserve in Lippe, the Externsteine rise up to 40 m high in the middle of the Teutoburg Forest, a natural and cultural monument that has far-reaching significance, particularly because of its relief of the cross carved out of the rock. According to current knowledge, the large sculpture, which was created in the 12th century, is considered a unique testimony to medieval sculpture in Europe.

Gaststätte Bauerkamp:

Located between Schlangen and Veldrom, the Bauerkamp restaurant offers unique views over the Senne and the Paderborn region. The traditional restaurant delights with home-style cooking and a camper van parking space. A well-signposted network of trails invites you to hike and explore nature.
