The former Catholic church, St. Peter's, was built in 1897 as a diaspora place of worship by the master builder "Gustav Meßmann" in the neo-Gothic style on the site of the former Hundertmarkschen Hof. The building is a neo-Gothic hall construction with a west tower in front. The choir with its semi-circular apse is built into the adjoining building of the former Catholic school and rectory to the east. The interior of the church is simple. In 1985, the building was acquired by the town of Lage and converted into a community center. Since then, many cultural events have been held here. The sculpture "The Path" stands in front of the community center. This was created by the artist group "Kontaktkunst" together with the citizens of Lage.

Studied art history and taught by Pavel Richter. Numerous solo and group exhibitions, including at the Heidelberger Kunstverein, at the Mannheim Short Film Festival, in Lage, Bünde and Schwalenberg.

Gisela Ruthenberg paints for life. Her paintings are not beautiful, nor should they be. What pains Gisela Ruthenberg is the way people deal with life. For Gisela Ruthenberg, art does not come from ability, but from necessity. Her search for harmony does not paint over the appalling news of the world. She does not retreat into the idyll of an aestheticizing style that secures the artist's market value. Her pictures reflect the fractures of the world. She forces together what does not belong together and thus shows what is slowly but surely destroying the world. Each of her pictures looks different. Most of them are assemblages, a mixture of painting and incorporated objects such as chicken wire, curlers, suspenders or folding rulers. This picture, which she painted for the Lagans views, is rather atypical for her. Here - she has used a harmonious color coordination as a basis.
