The bust was created in 1991 by theagens artist Wilhelm Nümann (1914 - 2007) and commemorates the importantagens artist Clara-Ernst (1907 - 1974). Her best-known picture is "Mäckelmarkt". Clara Ernst was born in Lage on December 3, 1907. Her mother came from a long-established Lippe family and her father was a brickworks construction engineer who came to teach at the technical college.

He made drawings at home for a Magdeburg construction company. As the eldest daughter, Clara always wanted to be a draughtswoman. However, her teacher advised her against it because it was an unprofitable art. Nevertheless, she attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy for three semesters after school and then took private lessons with the well-known Bielefeld painter and portraitist Kottenkamp. She quickly became known as a portraitist and draughtswoman of half-timbered houses in Lippe. She also created a large cycle of black and white drawings of Greek mythology. However, she had a particular love for the Lippe region and especially the town of Lage. She was never able to make a living from painting, so she worked as an accountant.
