Fürstliches Residenzschloss Detmold

The picturesque castle, a jewel in the Weser Renaissance style, is located in the heart of the cultural city of Detmold and is the highlight of a visit to the medieval city centre. The castle is inhabited by the family of Dr. Armin Prinz zur Lippe, a relative of the Dutch royal family.

The magnificent rooms contain, among other things, extensive collections of porcelain, historical weapons and paintings. World famous are the eight huge tapestries, over 300 years old, on which the deeds of Alexander the Great are depicted.
