Lippers are stubborn – at least that’s what they’re supposed to be. But if you get to know Lipper, you’ll soon learn better. Tradition and innovation, a sense of belonging to one’s homeland and a cosmopolitan outlook characterise him just as much as the region – the Land des Hermann. People can enjoy a variety of attractive landscapes here: From the Senne at the southern foot of the Teutoburger Wald to the Weserbogen in the north, the Lippe mountains in the east and the flat and hilly countryside in the west. Lippe also has a lot to offer in terms of leisure and culture: Hermannsdenkmal and Externsteine are the best known, but by far not the only cultural and tourist highlights. Thanks to its good infrastructure, the Teutoburger Wald has been one of Germany’s leading tourist regions for many years. Relax in the spa resorts of Bad Salzuflen and Bad Meinberg or immerse yourself in Lippe’s 800-year history by visiting the open-air museum Detmold, the Hexenbürgermeisterhaus in Lemgo or taking a stroll through the small alleys of the old towns with their charming townhouses and handicraft houses.
