Norderteich near Horn-Bad Meinberg

The Norderteich is an artificial lake created by damming near Billerbeck, a district of the municipality of Horn-Bad Meinberg. It has an area of approx. 12.5 ha and is located in the nature reserve “Norderteich mit Naptetal”, one of the oldest nature reserves in Lippe.

The nature and bird sanctuary Norderteich (also called “Lippisches Meer”) is a popular destination for hikers and walkers.

At the outlet on the southern shore of the lake there is a shelter with a roof for bird and nature observation and display boards with information about the bird species living there.

The lake can be circumnavigated on foot via a circular hiking trail in a period of 1.5 to 2 hours, but can also be circumnavigated by bicycle.

At particularly charming points, numerous benches are available for resting or enjoying the view of the countryside and lake.

Size of the nature reserve: 22.7 ha; protected areas include still waters, reed and reed zones, wetlands and marshy meadows.
